What is truth?

Not everyone agrees on what truth is. That's because truth is usually viewed as subjective. One man's truth is another man's lie. Look at all the different religions in the world, all the different concepts of God. Look at the different views on politics. We have these different views because we have different life experiences, different physical characteristics, different strengths, weaknesses, different parents, education, cultures, etc. we are all individuals. And as individuals, we are a composite of a bunch of stuff.

As humans, we are limited in our ability to know truth, and never know absolute truth because we know only through our five senses-- our ability to taste, touch, smell, see and hear-- and our emotions and out ability to reason-- our intellect.

This doesn't stop us, of course, from being certain in our view of truth. In fact, some of us are so certain that we are willing to go to war over it on occasion. Historically, religion-- mans ultimate view of truth-- has been at the heart of many conflicts. Since we can never know absolute truth, this should give us pause and make us tolerant of other views, but it doesn't. Unfortunately, that's another human characteristic.
